We’re thrilled to announce two great additions to our Investment Committee, joining Climate Tech Partners’ Founders, Patrick Sieb and Tom Kline.
With impressive backgrounds as founders and leaders in the venture space, both Topaz Conway and Noga Edelstein offer invaluable perspectives. Their strong operator mindset and hands-on expertise engaging with corporates and scaling businesses will greatly enhance our efforts to support climate-focused innovation.
These new members bring a wealth of experience spanning deep tech and software startup success, as well as prior venture capital investing advisory and IC roles, adding considerable depth to our team.
Introducing our new IC members:
Topaz has over 30 years of experience across a broad spectrum of technology, innovation and research commercialisation, with particular interest in deep tech and biotech. She founded, was CEO of, and/or was involved in the exit of startups, including Vine Tales Inc, Cytopeia Inc, and CleanSpace Technologies (ASX:CSX). She is currently on the board of two deep tech startups, Omni Tanker Composites (Hong Kong) and Omni Australia. As well as Cicada Innovations, Australia’s first deep tech incubator, where she also Chairs BizCapital, Cicada’s deep tech internal investment fund.
Topaz started investing in startups in 2001 in the US and has continued building her portfolio ever since in both the US and Australia. She was Commercialisation Adviser for over 10 years at Accelerating Commercialisation, Australia’s Federal innovation grant program. She co-founded and Chaired SBE Australia (Springboard program), Australia’s first accelerator program for women-led companies and over her 6-year tenure helped high-growth startups who raised over $250M with 5 exits, including 2 IPO’s. Topaz was also involved in a number of universities including UNSW and UTS. She was chair of Investible Climate Tech fund’s investment committee until May 2024 and previously worked at Pacific Horizon Ventures, a Seattle based VC firm. Topaz is currently a mentor in 4 accelerators and a graduate of the AICD.
Noga is an entrepreneur, investor and advisor to early-stage ventures. She has experienced every stage of the startup lifecycle from inception and launch to funding and exit. Noga co-founded on-demand home services startup UrbanYou, which led industry consolidation and successfully exited via trade sale. Noga’s insight into the startup journey and ability to work hands-on with founders has seen her become highly sought after as an advisor and investor, including as Venture Partner at Black Nova VC, Director of Advisory at Tractor Ventures, Entrepreneur-in-Residence at UTS Startups, and Mentor & Investor at Startmate.
As a tech ecosystem leader, Noga is committed to placing gender equality at the centre of the innovation agenda. She served on the Board of SBE Australia which supports women-led business, and as a member of Investment NSW Women’s Entrepreneurship Industry Reference Group. She is regularly invited to the region’s major forums supporting women-led business and is a sought-after commentator on women in tech and entrepreneurship.
Before founding UrbanYou, Noga worked at top-tier law firms in Sydney and London and was General Counsel at Yahoo!. She has Board experience across a diverse range of corporate, startup and not-for-profit organisations.
Together, Topaz and Noga enhance CTP team’s capabilities, with their founder experience, international connections, and VC expertise. They reinforce CTP’s mission to scale impactful solutions across our core sectors of energy, transport, and industrials. Topaz and Noga’s backgrounds provide CTP and founders with invaluable insights into the dynamics of innovation and corporate engagement, helping us create a stronger bridge between emerging technologies and large-scale adoption.
